Pictures of Portland, Oregon Tom McCall Waterfront Park

Shelly and I biked along both sides of the Willamette River this evening. There is a short circuit that goes along both sides of the river with bike routes across the Steel Bridge in the North and the Hawthorne Bridge in the South. It is a beautiful ride and you can always stop to take pictures, talk, meditate or have a microbrew at one of the lively joints near the water. The Montage restaurant is nearby in the East industrial district for some gritty Creole vs. Portland fare.

Coconut Panang Curry with Tofu

I have been doing research on my favorite Thai dishes so I can create them at home for my friends and family. There are a few key ingredients that I get at my local Asian store, Lily Market (if you have never been there you have to go because the selection and prices are incredible!) Thai dishes tend to be sweet and the sweetener you should use to get the same irresitable flavors is palm sugar even though some Americanized versions of the recipes will say you can get away with table sugar (you can’t). Other ingredients that shouldn’t be substituted is dark soy sauce for dishes like Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao and Kaffir lime leaves which give a piquant zest unlike anything else. Dark soy sauce is concentrated and very thick, much like molasses. Combine with regular soy sauce, chilies and perhaps a little palm sugar for a stir fry sauce that will please anyone.
I am currently perfecting frying curry paste in coconut milk for Panang Curry. You are supposed to do it until you see oil in the cream and then stir fry to perfection. I don’t know how well I am doing this but it tastes great.

Mercedes with Flames

One of the reasons I love Portland is for the impudent spirit of the more brazen segment of our population. Before the Nazi crowd outlawed smoking in restaurants this city was one of the only places you could get a vegan meal served while you killed yourself with a home-rolled cancer stick hanging out of your mouth. I’m not a supporter of smoking per se, but I am of freedom.
Microsoft Photoshops Black Guy

Apparently someone thought it would be a good idea to Photoshop out a black guy for this Polish version of a Microsoft advertisement. Whoever it was must have been in a hurry to whitewash the ad because they forgot his hand and the Asian dude in the back of the room. Remember that if you use Microsoft software it will empower your people, make them super happy in meetings and change race at will. Way to go Micro$oft!
Quantum Mechanics Explained

Lately I have been pondering the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. If you you think you are cool try walking on water, if you think you are smart try explaining the meaning and implications of quantum mechanics. The take home message that I have derived is that at a given moment in time measurements are undefinable, much less quantifiable. This implies time and space are part of an interconnected framework that cannot be separated and still retain any useful meaning. Particles and antiparticles fill the quantum vacuum creating everything, including our perception of time and space in our expanded scalar field.
Following is an explanation by an Indian professor which requires some patience and knowledge of physics followed by Robert Anton Wilson of the Illuminatis Trilogy fame (think tongue-in-cheek).

I booted up Windows 7 this morning and discovered the Task Manager [taskmgr.exe] didn’t display any of the tabs like so:
If this happens simply double left click on the white border to change back to menus:

I know a lot of you have been feeling a little down so I would like to share an amazing new technique I have picked up on: Quantum Jumping – The Inter-dimensional Quest for a Better You. I would love to elaborate but due to the fact that first hand experience is the best knowledge I simply have to encourage you to get off your posterior and get to it! What are you doing? Start jumping!
Tesla Roadster and Model S Electric Cars
Posted on 8 August 2009 | No responses
Tesla Motors has reached a milestone in profitibility by finally making money on their all-electric Roadster. Unlike conventional engines the car has only one moving part–the rotor–and the sophisticated electronics that take the place of an engine weigh only a little over a hundred pounds. The lithium ion battery provides a range of over two hundred miles and even when fully discharged takes only three and a half hours on average to charge. Not bad for an electric vehicle that can go from 0-60 in less than four seconds with a range of over 200 miles! Now they have a Model S sedan that will allow you to look just as green-pioneering pimp and drive your friends/kids around too. Somebody please donate 100 grand to me. Pretty please
